National Barbeque Month

May is National Barbeque month… It’s the perfect month for it! The weather is starting to get warm, the days are a little longer, making it easier to play with the kiddos outside, or have friends and family over for a backyard BBQ. Not just on the weekends, but throughout the week too. And since everyone says their barbeque is the best, friendly challenges can be fun. Some backyard grill masters prefer gas, some prefer charcoal, and over the past couple of years the electric pellet grills are stepping up too. Whichever you prefer, make sure your grill is ready, before you fire it up.

Here are a few things to check:

  1. Before plugging in, hooking up propane, or placing charcoal in make sure to clean anything on the interior and exterior that is dirty or greasy. Use warm water and dish soap to clean, Rinse and towel dry
  2. Turn grill on high for 15 minutes to burn off any stubborn unwanted grease. Turn off grill and scrub the grate with the appropriate wire brush or grill scrubber.
  3. After the grate cools, wash with warm soapy water and towel dry.
  4. Check and make sure your heat source (propane, pellets, or charcoal) is ready to go!
  5. Enjoy!

And if you’re tired of your old grill or just want a new one, 1-800-JUNKPRO has a deal for you! In conjunction with National Barbeque month, we will haul away and recycle any household grill for $49.

Spring-Cleaning Tips

Spring-Cleaning Tips

The first and one of the biggest parts of spring-cleaning is de-cluttering. And with spring starting today, we thought we’d share some tips to help you get started and make it go a little easier.

Tip #1. CREATE A STAGING AREA

This can be in your garage or anywhere else inside or outside your house where you have the space needed to be able to separate: 1. Items for donation, 2. Items for recycling, and 3. Any trash.

If you have a large project, one trick is to have two different colored garbage bags to separate the donatable items and the trash. It allows you to sort easily, and if you have any helpers, it makes things very clear.

Tip #2. CLEAN EACH ROOM ENTIRELY

Spring-cleaning can be overwhelming. Often it takes 2 or 3 day to do. So take each room and finish it in its entirety. Clean it from top to bottom, taking all items you don’t need or love to the staging area. Finishing the entire room before moving on will feel great and will provide more motivation for you to move on.

As a general rule… if you haven’t used it in 6 months and you won’t use it in the next 6 months, get rid of it and enjoy the space!

Tip #3. WORK FROM THE TOP DOWN, INSIDE OUT

When you do your spring-cleaning, you’ll want to work each room from the top down and from the inside out. This prevents you from dragging any dirt, through an area that you’ve already cleaned.

Tip #4. DISPOSE OF ANY HAZARDOUS MATERIAL SAFELY

If you have any hazardous material such as oil, cleaners, yard chemicals, or similar items, they should be taken to your closest hazardous recycling facility. If you’re not sure of where the closest one is, call 1-800-JUNKPRO and one of our friendly operators will be happy to point you in the right direction. Some municipalities have an area at the public works department that accepts these items for free.

A great way to keep your car clean while transporting these items is to put them in a big plastic tote style container.

NOW FOR THAT PILE!

This is the easy part! Call 1-800-JUNKPRO and schedule a pick-up! “We make it go away”. If it’s in good shape, we’ll donate it. If it’s too far past its prime, we’ll recycle it. If it cannot be donated or recycled, it will be disposed of properly.

Our friendly uniformed PROs arrive on-time, do all the carrying and loading, then leave the area broom-swept.

WHY WAIT?

We charge based on the space your items take up in our truck. We can pick up 10% of a truckload every year for the next 10 years or a full truckload in 10 years. You might as well enjoy the space now!

Make yourself a deadline. Call 1-800-JUNKPRO and set your appointment NOW!

Big Game 2014

GET READY TO PARTY!!!

It’s almost here. The day football fans and half-time-commercial fans, get
together. The "Big Game" is less than two weeks away and the basement
entertainment room is full of empty boxes from Christmas. The utility room
is full of the old TV’s and electronics that got replaced. The man-cave
in the garage is stuffed with retired bicycles and outdoor toys. And that
cupboard where the crockpots for the cheese dip and meatballs are stored
in...well don’t even try to open that! You know last time little Jack tried, he
was screaming “mommy, help there’s a monster pushing the door back
open and making loud noises"!

This can only mean one thing! It’s time to de-clutter before you have that
“Big Game" party!

"How?" you ask.
